How I See You & Don't be a Rapist

There's every possibility that I've written these words before, but in all the maturity I've tried to learn, I still have the awful habit of judging my friends. I know that everyone does it (on some level, you have to in order to determine who is your friend), but I'm admitting it. Specifically, I judge you on how you reacted to my personal tragedy. If you reacted sensitively and inquired about my well being and didn't ignore my phone calls and watched me get doped up on painkillers, I love you a little more now. If you didn't do even one of those things, your (perceived) lack of caring is noted every time I see or hear from you. I'm trying to change that. I'm trying to be more mature and forgiving. For the most part, I'm becoming a better person. Just know that sometimes, when I see you, you're wearing a bright shirt that says, "I didn't call you back when you needed me." In my forgiving state, I'm going to assume the back of that shirt says, "I'm sorry." Then, I'm going to call you back. Please remember that how you choose to react to someone is indefinitely more important to them than it is to you, but it seriously affects how they see you, how I see you.

On a darker note, today has been all about the serial rapist in my hometown. It's a college town and the college has seen it fit NOT to report about the incidents, NOT to warn the student body, and NOT to pull their heads out of their asses to be proactive. This guy has been sporadically raping girls since 2000 by breaking into their houses, unlocking doors and windows, coming back at night and WAITING for them to come home. Now he has a gun. Now there's a girl who has had him break into her house twice and unlock windows and doors and slash screens. What are the police doing? Where is the public outcry at its young women being brutally raped in their homes? Nobody knows anything about it. Every girl that I've told has asked "What serial rapist?" I'm hoping that he's targeted the wrong girl this time and that when he tries something a third time an ax falls from heaven severing his genitalia from his body and while he watches a dog eat his man parts, the cops arrive and shoot him somewhere painful. After all, if he didn't live through all of that, he wouldn't be brutally tortured in prison and that is this season's must-have: mandatory prison torture for convicted serial rapists.
